Today, UCAD is a comprehensive university serving more than 90,000 students, including over 4,000 international students, supported by more than 1,500 academic staff, 3,000 administrative personnel, 80 departments, 6 faculties, 7 doctoral schools, and more than 1,600 PhD candidates. Its academic offer covers a wide range of disciplines through the Licence-Master-Doctorate (LMD) system, including Economics and Management, Humanities, Science and Technology, Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry, Legal and Political Sciences, and Education and Training. The university also provides extensive library services, digital resources, and online learning tools.

UCAD’s commitment to excellence has recently received significant international recognition. Already regularly ranked among the top African universities by major rankings such as UniRank, EduRank, and Webometrics, the university achieved a major milestone by entering the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026 for the first time. Published on 21 January 2026, the rankings place UCAD among the world’s recognised institutions in six disciplines: Medicine and Health, Engineering, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences. This achievement further strengthens UCAD’s international visibility and confirms the quality of its teaching, research, and institutional governance.
The university has developed an ambitious internationalisation strategy, maintaining partnerships with universities across Europe, North America, and Africa while hosting numerous international study programmes and research collaborations. As part of these efforts, UCAD actively participates in the UNITA Geminae Network, an initiative designed to strengthen academic cooperation across continents through the exchange of best practices in teaching, research, mobility, innovation, and governance.
