Destination Europe: Postcards from the UNITA Alliance exhibition on display in Pau

From February 2 to 20, 2026, the exhibition “Destination Europe: Postcards from the UNITA Alliance” at the University Library of Pau highlights the mobility experiences of students, researchers and staff from the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour (UPPA) within the UNITA Alliance. The result of several months of collaborative work, the exhibition showcases the European dimension of UNITA through testimonials, images and a rich programme of activities promoting mobility, intercultural dialogue and European citizenship.
Ten master’s and bachelor’s degree dissertations receive the European Citizenship Award for their commitment to European values

UNITA organised a dissertation competition on European citizenship last July, which resulted in 10 new winners from 6 universities across the Alliance. This edition has reinforced the sense of belonging and the connections between students and the European community.

Universidad de la Habana (Cuba) was founded in 1728 and is an institution that preserves a renowned heritage of history and scientific knowledge. The University of Havana is a center of excellence whose three-hundred-year history—closely linked to the nation’s history, as well as to the projects and achievements that define its progress—grants it the status of Alma Mater of Cuban higher education, of which it is one of the most valued symbols.
UniTo and UNITA women protagonists of science meet students

More than 70 high school students attended the event “Le Montagne dove non te le aspetti: le Donne esploratrici e protagoniste della Scienza,” held at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Turin. The initiative was part of the celebration activities by UNITA of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
The first guardians of memory – Burials in the Paleolithic –

The exhibition The First Guardians of Memory. Burials in the Paleolithic opened on Friday, January 23, at the Multicultural Center of Transilvania University of Brașov. Produced by the University of Turin, through its Museum Sistem (particularly the Luigi Rolando Human Anatomy Museum), the exhibition brings together an outstanding collection of casts of Paleolithic graves and is part of a traveling exhibition program presented by universities within the UNITA Alliance. Through casts and documentary materials, visitors are invited to explore the funerary rituals of early human communities. The exhibition is open to the public until March 6, 2026.
UNITA hosts virtual roundtable on the role and challenges of women in science

Do you think you know your rights as a European citizen? Workshop on ‘European identity and citizenship’ at Liceul Teoretic Periam

On 17 December 2025, a UNITA workshop on Identity and European Citizenship was held at the Periam Theoretical High School with 11th and 12th grade students from the socio-humanities track. The event explored European identity, feelings of belonging, and students’ perceptions of the European Union, drawing on Eurobarometer data and interactive discussions. A key focus was placed on EU citizens’ rights, including freedom of movement, study, work, voting, and non-discrimination, illustrated through practical, locally relevant examples. The workshop concluded with a quiz to assess students’ understanding of European citizenship.

The Université d’Antananarivo is the principal and oldest public university in Madagascar, located in the capital city of Antananarivo. Founded in 1955 as the Institut des Hautes Études d’Antananarivo, the institution has progressively established itself as the country’s leading centre for higher education and for academic and scientific development at the national level.
UNITA Days at UNITBV

The “UNITA Days” event, organized on November 5, 2025, by Transilvania University of Brașov, was dedicated to promoting international mobility opportunities and the programs of the UNITA University Alliance among students. The event combined informative presentations, experience-sharing sessions, and practical workshops designed to familiarize participants with UNITA’s mission, benefits, and application procedures. Students explored peer experiences within UNITA, learned about European career opportunities, and received hands-on guidance on preparing Europass CVs, motivation letters, and mobility applications. Interactive activities, including quizzes, competitions, and a treasure hunt, encouraged active participation, teamwork, and creativity. Overall, the event supported students’ academic and professional development by enhancing their awareness of international opportunities within the European higher education context.
USMB Hosts a UNITA Staff Week on Intercomprehension and Linguistic Heritage

From 24 to 28 November 2025, Université Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) hosted in Chambéry the UNITA Staff Week “Linguistic Paths of Savoie: Intercomprehension and Cultural Heritage”. Organised in collaboration with Transilvania University of Brașov (Romania) and the University of Turin (Italy), the event brought together university staff from the UNITA alliance to explore innovative approaches to plurilingualism, intercomprehension and the valorisation of cultural and territorial heritage through pedagogical and immersive activities.
