UNITA universities bring research closer to citizens during European Researchers’ Night

Universities belonging to the UNITA – Universitas Montium alliance took part in the 2026 European Researchers’ Night on 25 September, bringing research and innovation closer to citizens through a wide range of public activities across Europe.

The event brought together researchers, students and members of the public in several UNITA universities, with activities designed to make scientific research accessible and engaging. Workshops, experiments, demonstrations, talks and interactive activities addressed topics ranging from artificial intelligence and sustainability to health, technology, rural heritage and mountain territories.

In Turin (Italy), UNITA took part in UNIGHT 2026 at Parco del Valentino. The programme included an exhibition on the alliance and mountain territories, meetings with researchers, the My 3-minute PhD Thesis competition and the Maratona della ricerca, highlighting research and citizen science initiatives within UNITA.

The University of Brescia (Italy) participated with 25 stands and 21 talks, including activities linked to research projects supported by UNITA. In Zaragoza (Spain) UNITA activities focused particularly on mountain and rural heritage, with workshops exploring the transformation of mountain landscapes, Pyrenean heritage and the preservation and promotion of rural heritage through digital tools such as 3D models.

Other UNITA universities also opened their research to the public.
