The University of Turin recently welcomed prof. Yurii Kovaliuk and prof. Yuliia Holovashhenko from Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (CHNU) within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA171 programme, marking an important step in strengthening cooperation with CHNU as an associated partner of the UNITA Alliance.

The visit, which took place from 20 to 24 April 2026, was structured around a rich and diverse programme combining teaching activities, academic exchange, and institutional meetings. This well-balanced agenda created multiple opportunities for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and the identification of future collaboration pathways.

The programme began with a welcome and orientation session at the Department of Foreign Languages, setting the stage for a week of academic engagement. Teaching activities were a central component of the visit. Professor Yurii Kovaliuk delivered a lesson on English Phraseology to first-year Bachelor students in English Linguistics, followed by an exchange of good practices with UniTo professors.

Similarly, Professor Yuliia Holovashhenko contributed to the academic programme through a seminar on Rupi Kaur within the Digital Humanities framework and a lecture within the Master’s programme in English and American Studies.

These teaching moments were complemented by interactive discussions with faculty members, allowing for a fruitful comparison of methodologies, curricula, and pedagogical approaches. Such exchanges are essential in fostering mutual learning and enhancing the quality of teaching across institutions.

Institutional cooperation was another key focus of the visit. Meetings with the International Humanities Office and UniTo academic staff provided an opportunity to present the respective universities and departments, discuss ongoing initiatives, and explore future collaboration opportunities. The involvement of exchange students further enriched the discussions, offering a practical perspective on mobility and international experiences.

A particularly significant moment of the visit was the exchange of good practices within the UNITA Alliance, held with representatives of the UNITA Office. This session highlighted the role of UNITA as a platform for collaboration and innovation, while also underlining the importance of actively involving associated partners such as CHNU in its activities and vision.

Beyond the formal programme, the visit created valuable opportunities for networking and informal exchange, contributing to building trust and strengthening relationships between the two institutions. These interactions are fundamental for developing long-term cooperation that goes beyond individual initiatives.

The presence of CHNU at the University of Turin clearly demonstrates the added value of engaging associated partners within the UNITA Alliance. By fostering dialogue, sharing expertise, and identifying common priorities, such exchanges contribute to the development of a more inclusive and interconnected European Higher Education Area.

This visit represents not only a successful example of academic mobility, but also a concrete step towards deeper institutional collaboration. Strengthening partnerships with universities like CHNU will continue to be essential for UNITA, enriching its international dimension and supporting its mission to build a truly collaborative European university network
