The UNITA Alliance has reached a new milestone in its international development with the signing of a strategic partnership with the Université du Québec, the largest French-speaking university network in the Americas.
Formalised in Paris on 30 March 2026, the agreement was signed in the presence of Martine Biron and Henri-Paul Rousseau, highlighting the strong institutional and political significance of this collaboration.
The event also brought together several representatives from member institutions of both networks, including Laurent Bordes, Alexandre Cloutier, Philippe Briand, Luciana Vaccaro, Kathy Baig, Hugo Cyr, Ghislain Samson, François Deschênes and Luc-Alain Giraldeau.
An ambitious transatlantic collaboration
This unprecedented partnership between two major university networks aims to strengthen cooperation between Europe and the Americas. It paves the way for a wide range of joint initiatives, including:
- the development of scientific collaborations
- the establishment of research internships for students
- the strengthening of student and staff mobility, particularly through summer schools
- the launch of joint calls for projects, especially for co-supervised PhDs
Beyond these concrete actions, the partnership is grounded in shared values: academic excellence, societal engagement, regional anchoring, and the promotion of linguistic diversity.
A pilot phase to be launched
A first pilot phase will be launched in the coming months to lay the foundations for sustainable and structured cooperation between the member institutions of both networks.
This partnership represents a significant step forward in UNITA’s internationalisation strategy and confirms its ambition to expand its global outreach through high-impact collaborations.
