Conference: The Last Day. From the Glacier to the City. A Journey from the Adamello Glacier to the Heart of Brescia

On Friday, 21 November, the conference “The Last Day. From the Glacier to the City” was held at Palazzo Loggia in Brescia, concluding the Una Sola Terra Festival. The event featured the presentation of the photographic project “The Last Days,” which documents the rapid retreat of the Adamello glacier. The conference was part of the International Year of Glacier Preservation promoted by UNESCO and the WMO, and was organized with the involvement of the University of Brescia, the UNITA – Universitas Montium alliance, and several local partners.
RENALPS Project

The RENALPS project, funded by the UNITA – Universitas Montium Alliance, focuses on assessing pathways to carbon neutrality in Alpine regions. Through case studies, it develops decision-support tools to help local authorities identify the most effective mix of renewable energy sources. Coordinated by the University of Brescia with partners across Europe, the project concluded with a final meeting on November 5th, 2025, where results, future perspectives, and practical applications—highlighted by a visit to a hydroelectric power plant—were presented.
UNITA joins the 2024 Green Erasmus+ Projects Compendium

UNITA – Universitas Montium has been selected for the 2024 #Green Erasmus+ Compendium, the European showcase of best practices integrating environmental sustainability into Erasmus+ initiatives.
UNITA stands out for embedding sustainability from its inception through the Green UNITA initiative and a shared European competence framework. The project further strengthened its commitment by integrating environmental sustainability into its Code of Ethics and Conduct. The recognition confirms the strategic role of inter-university cooperation in shaping a sustainable European higher education model.
Advancing the Joint European Degree Label: Reflections from the UNITA–CIVIS event in Brussels

The event “Towards the European Degree”, held on 27 November 2025 in Brussels, brought together experts, students, policymakers and members of several university alliances to discuss the future Joint European Degree Label. Around 30 people participated in person, while more than 230 followed the meeting online. The presence of the EC representative Kinga Szuly highlighted the importance of this topic for the future of European higher education.
CAIE: UNITA at CAEI 2025: Promoting internationalization across the Americas

In October 2025, Université Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB), Universidad de Zaragoza (UNIZAR) and Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara (UVT) jointly represented the UNITA alliance at the Congreso de las Américas sobre Educación Internacional (CAEI) in Costa Rica.UNITA highlighted its GEMINAE network, active across North and South America, and engaged discussions with the Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR), proposed as a new GEMINAE member. The participation strengthened UNITA’s visibility, fostered international collaboration, and showcased the alliance’s commitment to advancing academic mobility and international higher education.

UNITA showcased its key innovative results at the TCA conference “Putting It into Practice – Spreading Innovative Results from European Universities Alliances”, hosted by NA DAAD. During a poster gallery walk and a workshop dedicated to joint educational offers and innovative teaching, UNITA presented UNITA Recipes, UNITA à la Carte, as well as its tools and actions for developing its research community.

The National University of La Plata has many years of experience in teaching and research, and continuing education. Located in La Plata —one of Argentina’s most important cities, with a population of 750.000— it stands out for fostering productive partnerships based on its research capacities and technological development. Founded in 1905 as a public institution, it is distinguished by its commitment to national and international cooperation, with an international relations department that promotes the mobility of students, lecturers, and researchers.
CLIMB UNITED: USMB takes action against sedentary lifestyle in Higher Education

The Université Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB), together with the Università di Torino (UNITO), the Universidad de Zaragoza (UNIZAR), the Universidade da Beira Interior (UBI), and the University of Ljubljana (UNILJ), has launched CLIMB UNITED – Ascend Together, a European project tackling sedentary lifestyles in universities. Funded by the European Commission, the initiative brings together these five partner universities to identify barriers to physical activity and test innovative solutions. Starting in January 2026, students and staff from all five universities will be able to participate in a dedicated survey designed to help shape the project. CLIMB UNITED aims to promote an active lifestyle and engage university communities across Europe in sustainable, long-term change.

The University of Los Andes in Colombia was founded in 1948. It is the first private higher education institution in Colombia that is secular and independent of political parties, with no interest in defending the interests of any social or economic group. It has more than 30 faculties and 155 research groups. It is also committed to internationalisation and cooperation with networks such as Geminae. In total, it has more than 100 agreements with universities in more than 30 countries.
