As a HE alliance, UNITA is committed to play an important role in linking basic and applied research with research and innovation-based teaching.
Our students are provided with a wide range of challenge- based teaching methods, which result in disciplines and methods being developed that are both challenging and offer opportunities for independence. In addition to the above-mentioned research-based education activities, UNITA is committed to the use of research to feed into how teaching is done in all our campuses across Europe. Drawing from our previous joint research work on sustainability, we will promote greening activities for our campuses (Task 5.3). We will provide active support to joint research projects. This will result in the common approach of research questions based on co-creation with stakeholders and in alignment with local, regional and European policy priorities and global agendas (UN SDGs).
Foster development in the rural, mountain and cross-border territories hosting the partner universities through challenge-based education, research and innovation-related activities. For this purpose, we will:
▪ Create a network of UNITA interfaces with the local innovation ecosystems to facilitate strategic knowledge sharing with them, in line with the Smart Specialisation Strategies and the European Innovation Agenda.
▪ Promoting cooperative research among the alliance partners and inter-territorial research communities, working on existing and emerging alliance thematic hubs, originating in complementary competences, alliance strategies, SDGs and territorial smart specialisation strategies;
▪ Facilitate and improve the partners’ sharing practices of the research infrastructure and related services according to identified needs;
▪ Develop interconnected master and doctoral programmes targeting alliance focus areas through research-based academic, practice-oriented and industrial-based training.
