An relevant dimension of UNITA’s education policy is the Virtual Campus, a platform that integrates the digital tools that support learning, mobility and collaboration across the alliance, creating a unified environment where students, teachers and researchers can connect, access resources and engage in shared activities regardless of location.
During the first three years of the Alliance (2020-2023), efforts focused on developing this tool to support the management of educational initiatives and enable connections among students, teachers, and researchers.
In this second phase (2023-2027), the digital campus will become the first jointly managed tool of the Alliance, overseen by both the UNITA legal entity (where an IT Department has been established) and the partner universities (which have dedicated staff supporting the campus). This will allow UNITA to move to the next level in the digitalization of its activities, integrating its initiatives through the use of jointly developed digital tools.
A wide range of services is expected to be made available for UNITA:
- OpenProject. Platform for internal management of the UNITA project, offering tools for collaboration, communication, and project tracking from the initial phase to completion.
OpenProject enables teams to collaborate in real time, share information, and communicate efficiently regardless of location.
It allows users to create, assign, and track tasks, set deadlines and priorities, and visualize the progress of each task.
The software offers tools to create schedules, Gantt charts, and visually plan projects, with features to assign tasks and manage deadlines.
OpenProject facilitates the organization and sharing of project-related documents, such as reports, specifications, and other relevant materials.
The software allows tracking of time spent on tasks and projects, as well as monitoring associated costs, with features to generate reports. - Course Catalog (Learning Opportunities Catalogue). The Course Catalogue is a comprehensive platform that provides students with access to courses offered by UNITA universities. It includes detailed course information, filtering options, and metadata to support academic and administrative needs.
This tool serves as an open area where all courses from participating universities are visible to students. It supports filtering by criteria such as university, course type, virtual mobility availability, and more. It aims to streamline course discovery and enrollment. - Training Plans Website. A dedicated website designed to publish and disseminate training plans for teachers. It serves as a platform for presenting objectives, vision, data, and contact information while enabling the registration and sharing of multimedia-based training plans.
- The Training plans Website facilitates the creation, registration, and dissemination of training plans for teachers. It includes a searchable database for locating relevant training materials and metadata for enhanced accessibility.
- UNITApedia observatory . It is the place to retrieve information on the alliance, the project, the work that has been done, or to do. You will find multiple indicators to understand everything about UNITA.It responds to the need to be able to understand UNITA and at the same time observe the transformative impact of the alliance from a multidimensional perspective.
- Intercomprehension Interactive Guide. The UNITA Interactive Guide for Teachers aims to centralize teaching resources in a structured and accessible digital format. It will serve as a collaborative space where educators and learners can find, share, and utilize multimedia teaching materials.
- Matching event. The platform is designed to make professional connections at events more meaningful and efficient. By creating a personalized profile, researchers can indicate their fields of interest and collaboration goals. The system then suggests relevant matches with other participants, enabling easy scheduling of one-on-one meetings through an integrated calendar. Whether you’re seeking project partners, interdisciplinary exchange, or simply expanding your academic network, the platform helps you connect with the right people — quickly and purposefully. Everything is streamlined, from profile setup to meeting reminders, so you can focus on what matters: building valuable research collaborations.
- Mobility (Virtual & Rural). Virtual Mobility offers students enrolled at UNITA universities the opportunity to attend online courses provided by other universities in the alliance. Activities carried out and results obtained at the host institution will be fully recognized by the home institution.UNITA Rural Mobility offers students from the Alliance a unique opportunity to enhance their professional and soft skills while contributing to the revitalization of rural and mountain areas in a destination managed by another UNITA university.
- Digital Badges / Unita Label / OpenBadge. The Unita Label is a prestigious certification awarded to individuals who successfully complete specific courses or programs at Unita. It signifies academic excellence, advanced knowledge, and dedication to professional growth, embodying the university’s values of innovation and lifelong learning. This tool supports the certification process for micro-credentials and the Unita Label, offering a seamless way to award and manage academic certifications based on completed courses and programs.
- BBB (BigBlueButton) . It is an open-source web conferencing system, primarily designed for online education, that enables interactive virtual classes and meetings. It offers features such as audio, video, and screen sharing, whiteboard, and chat, as well as the ability to record sessions.
- Datacloud. A centralized platform that integrates data from various sources into a unified, cloud-based environment. It allows businesses to manage, analyze, and act on their data more effectively, transforming data into a strategic asset.
- Eligo E-Voting Platform Integration. Integration of the Eligo platform into the UNITA ecosystem.
Eligo is an innovative and secure election management platform that facilitates voting in various contexts. This advanced and comprehensive voting solution provides an efficient, transparent, and regulation-compliant experience. - AGORA. AGORA UNITA is a collaborative space for innovation and was designed to be a shared environment for all potential applicants to the UNITA Research Grants. Here, you can connect with other researchers, share ideas, and discuss specific aspects of the grant competition. The goal is to create an environment where you can get answers to your questions, exchange ideas, and strengthen your proposals through collective intelligence.
- LimeSurvey. It is a simple, fast, and anonymous online survey tool packed with juicy insights. Designed for students, professionals, and businesses alike: create a survey and gain valuable perspectives.
- Moodle (LMS) – Moodle Integration & Interoperability, connect institutional Moodles using LTI or API-based connectors (proxy Moodles) to ease cross-institutional access.
- Laboratories. Shared Laboratories database.
- Platform for teacher training badges . The Unita teacher training badge is a distinctive certification awarded to individuals who successfully complete specific teacher training courses at Unita (virtual campus). It reflects both subject knowledge and best pedagogical practices. This platform supports the creation, tracking, and distribution of badges associated with teacher training courses. The badges highlight specialized training and reinforce innovation and excellence in teaching.
- Financial Sustainability Tool. A tool to monitor and manage financial sustainability for solar projects. This tool provides stakeholders with a streamlined approach to evaluate financial metrics, such as revenues, expenses, and cash flow for renewable energy initiatives.
- Re-UniTA Research Infrastructures – Shared equipment database.
- UNITA Identity Provider. Identity Provider (IdP) is a system that manages and verifies user identities, providing authentication services to other applications or services (known as Service Providers or SPs). Essentially, it acts as a trusted source for verifying user credentials, often enabling Single Sign-On (SSO) capabilities.
