What Are UNITA-Labelled Double Degrees?
Double degree programmes within UNITA are joint academic pathways developed collaboratively by partner universities. They allow students to study in at least two institutions and obtain degrees recognized in multiple countries.
The UNITA Label is a mark of distinction awarded to these programmes when they meet high European and transnational standards. It certifies that they offer:
- Jointly designed curricula across universities.
- Strong academic quality and interdisciplinary approaches.
- Integrated mobility opportunities for students.
- Close alignment with European values and labour market needs.

These programmes go beyond traditional bilateral agreements. They represent fully integrated European learning experiences, built on cooperation, innovation, and shared academic vision.
A Structured and Rigorous Awarding Process
The UNITA Label is awarded through a transparent and carefully designed process running from 2025 to 2027, structured in four key steps:
1. Identification
Existing double and joint degree programmes within the Alliance are identified and reviewed to determine their eligibility.
2. Application
Programme coordinators complete a self-assessment, evaluating how their programmes align with UNITA Label criteria, with support from Alliance structures.
3. Evaluation
An independent Awarding Committee—composed of experts from each UNITA country—assesses the applications. Each programme is reviewed by two evaluators to ensure fairness, transparency, and consistency.
4. Results and Recognition
Successful programmes are officially awarded the UNITA Label and promoted through UNITA’s communication channels, increasing their visibility at the European level.
