Recruited as a professor at Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour in 2006, he became director of the applied mathematics laboratory in Pau in 2008. Laurent Bordes was Vice-President for Research from 2012 to 2016 and then Deputy Vice-President for Digital Technology from 2016 to 2018. From 2018 to 2020, he was the head of the STEE college (Science and technology for energy and the environment), until his first election as president of the Université de Pau and Pays de l’Adour on 1 January 2021.
