EGAI \u2013 Unita as a Model for Institutionalized University Cooperation: from the European Grouping of Economic Interest to the European Grouping of Academic Interest<\/strong><\/h4>

In April 2023 the project EGAI \u00a0was launched. EGAI was\u00a0funded through the\u00a0ERASMUS+ program, within the call “Pilot institutionalised EU cooperation instruments to explore the feasibility for a possible European legal status for alliances of higher education institutions”.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

EGAI Project examine<\/strong>d<\/strong>,\u00a0test<\/strong>ed<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0facilitate<\/strong>d<\/strong>\u00a0the use of a European Grouping of Economic Interest (EEIG) as an instrument of\u00a0institutionalized university cooperation<\/strong>, with the final goal of designing a new grouping, the\u00a0European Grouping of Academic Interest<\/strong>\u00a0(EGAI).<\/p>

EGAI included\u00a0the six founding members of UNITA-Universitas\u00a0Montium alliance, supported by national authorities in the field of\u00a0higher education<\/strong>, the other Universities associated to Unita, the Italian authority competent for the registration of the EEIG (CCIAA of Turin) and other alliances or entities interested.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

A team composed by 15 legal and\/or economic experts from all the partners conducted an\u00a0in-depth analysis<\/strong>\u00a0to define the activities to be entrusted to the EEIG, the\u00a0legal tools<\/strong>\u00a0to ensure the sharing of personnel, data and material resources within the EEIG, and its\u00a0economic<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0financial needs<\/strong>. These analyses lead to a proposal for the improvement of the existing institutionalised cooperation EU instruments.<\/p>

Results were presented in a scientific conference held at the Universit\u00e9\u00a0Savoie-Mont Blanc and in a spring\u00a0school held at the University of Vest Timisoara.<\/p>

EGAI team has been working for one year in closed connection with the DG EAC of the EU Commission and participated in the final conference of all the pilot project organised in Brussels, in April 2024.<\/p>
