#000000;\">is an innovative institutional tool\u00a0created to enhance\u00a0transnational\u00a0academic collaboration in Europe.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div 2023<\/strong> by the six\u00a0universities of the pilot phase of the <strong>UNITA alliance <\/strong>\u2014 <strong>University<\/strong><strong> of <\/strong><strong>Turin<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>University<\/strong><strong> of <\/strong><strong>Savoie<\/strong><strong>-Mont <\/strong><strong>Blanc<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>University<\/strong><strong> of Pau et <\/strong><strong>des<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Pays<\/strong><strong> de l&#8217;<\/strong><strong>Adour<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>University<\/strong><strong> of Zaragoza, <\/strong><strong>University<\/strong><strong> of Beira <\/strong><strong>Interior<\/strong><strong>, and <\/strong><strong>University<\/strong><strong> of Vest <\/strong><strong>din<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Timi\u0219oara<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014, <strong>UNITA GEIE <\/strong>includes today also the <strong>Transilvania <\/strong><strong>University<\/strong><strong> of Brasov,<\/strong> the <strong>Public <\/strong><strong>University<\/strong><strong> of Navarra<\/strong> and, as an associate partner, the<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>University<\/strong><strong> of Applied Sciences and <\/strong><strong>Arts<\/strong><strong> of Western <\/strong><strong>Switzerland<\/strong>: it\u00a0represents the first initiative of its kind in Europe.<\/p><p>By fostering cross-border collaboration, <strong>UNITA GEIE <\/strong>strengthens institutional ties and He is a professor and PhD coordinator in finance, involved in research projects, scientific and professional bodies and boards of journals and conferences; he offers lectures (in Romania or abroad) and promotes the importance of entrepreneurial knowledge and social involvement. She became a Full Professor in 2009.\nIn addition to her career as a teacher and researcher, she has participated in various bodies at UBI, notably as Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation between 2009 and 2013, having created the Research Coordination Institute, which she also chaired. She was also elected to the first General Council of UBI in 2008 and for the terms beginning in 2016, 2020 and 2024, having headed lists in the first two. She also coordinates the Butterfly Area, a strategic initiative focused on technology transfer and collaboration between academia and industry.\n\nA distinguished scientist, she is the author of over 140 publications, two books, and several patents. Activities Our actions try to reach internal and external aspects of the UNITA developement UNITA activities Public activities UNITA GEIE &#8211; Governance Strategic Board (Conseil Strat\u00e9gique) Marilen Gabriel Pirtea UVT Marilen Gabriel Pirtea is the Rector of the West University of Timi\u0219oara and a member of the Romanian Parliament. He was Honorary Advisor to the PM of Romania (later to the Deputy PM), responsible for the integration of Romanian universities into the European education and research area. Now, he is Honorary Advisor to the PM of Romania for education and research. He supported the formation of the European University Alliance UNITA Montium and initiated the RO-European Universities Alliance. Professor Pirtea promotes science and organised at Timisoara, the Diaspora in Scientific Research and Higher Education Conference (2016, 2023). He is a professor and PhD coordinator in finance, involved in research projects, scientific and professional bodies and boards of journals and conferences; he offers lectures (in Romania or abroad) and promotes the importance of entrepreneurial knowledge and social involvement. Currently, he is president of the Universitaria Consortium and vice president of the National Council of Rectors. Ana Paula Duarte UBI Ana Paula Duarte is 63 years old and has a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Coimbra. She obtained her PhD in Paper Engineering at UBI, where she also presented her Aggregation Exams in Paper Engineering. She became a Full Professor in 2009. In addition to her career as a teacher and researcher, she has participated in various bodies at UBI, notably as Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation between 2009 and 2013, having created the Research Coordination Institute, which she also chaired. She was also elected to the first General Council of UBI in 2008 and for the terms beginning in 2016, 2020 and 2024, having headed lists in the first two. She coordinated the Health Sciences Research Centre (CICS-UBI) for two successive terms between 2015 and 2019. She is currently Vice-President of the Faculty of Health Sciences for Research, Community Projects and Faculty Centre Management, a position she has held since 2017. Ana Paula Duarte is also director of the Doctorate\/3rd Cycle in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Cristina Prandi UNITO Since October 1, 2025, Cristina Prandi, Full Professor of Organic Chemistry, has served as Rector of the University of Turin. She earned her degree in Biological Sciences from the same institution in 1988 and completed a PhD in Biotechnology in 1993. Professor Prandi has extensive experience in academic governance, having held key leadership roles including Chair of the Chemistry Degree Program and Vice-Rector for Research in the Natural and Agricultural Sciences (2019\u20132024). She also coordinates the Butterfly Area, a strategic initiative focused on technology transfer and collaboration between academia and industry. A distinguished scientist, she is the author of over 140 publications, two books, and several patents. Her research focuses on organic and green chemistry, with applications in sustainable agriculture and biomedicine. Since 2022, she has coordinated Spoke 2 of the NODES project, funded by the PNRR, promoting inclusive and sustainable research. In 2025, she received the Research Award for Methodological Aspects of Organic Chemistry from the Italian Chemical Society. Her vision for the University emphasizes internationalization, sustainability, and inclusivity, with a strong focus on the relationship between the university, its community, and society. Philippe Briand USMB Born in N\u00eemes in 1970, Philippe Briand earned his PhD in 1997 at Universit\u00e9 Blaise Pascal (Clermont-Ferrand), focusing on probabilistic methods for partial differential equations. After a postdoc at Princeton University, he became an associate professor at Rennes 1 in 1998, then full professor at Universit\u00e9 Savoie Mont Blanc in 2008, joining LAMA, the Mathematics Laboratory (UMR 5127 CNRS\u2013USMB). A probabilist and specialist in stochastic analysis, his research focuses on backward stochastic differential equations, their connections to finance and PDEs, and numerical methods. He co-led the MEEF master\u2019s program, directed LAMA (2014\u20132018), contributed to Hc\u00e9res evaluations (2016\u20132018), and has been Deputy Scientific Director at CNRS-INSMI since 2018.
