In this initial phase, <strong>six universities<\/strong> were part of the Alliance:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">University of Beira Interior (Portugal)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">University of Zaragoza (Spain)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">University of Pau et des Pays de l&#8217;Adour (France)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">University of Savoie-Mont Blanc (France)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">University of Turin (Italy)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">University of Vest din Timisoara (Romania).<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-47e090f2 exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first phase of UNITA (2020\u20132023) laid the foundations for a shared European university rooted in inclusion, multilingualism and territorial innovation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2d81ba2 e-con-full e-flex wpr-particle-no wpr-jarallax-no wpr-parallax-no wpr-sticky-section-no wpr-equal-height-no e-con e-child\" data-id=\"2d81ba2\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element created a democratic and participatory governance model involving all actors of the university community.<\/p><ul><li>Established the Governance Board and advisory bodies (Students\u2019 Assembly, Advisory Council, and Quality &amp; Evaluation Board).<\/li><li>Set up six UNITA offices and a shared Datacloud platform for management and collaboration.<\/li><li>Engaged over 400 participants and created 34 full-time administrative positions.<\/li><li>Involved 96.7% of academic faculties across partner universities.<\/li><li>Launched the UNITA-GEIE, the alliance\u2019s European legal entity.<\/li><li>Created the pioneering UNITA Students\u2019 Assembly, bringing together more than 60 student representatives.<\/li><li>Establised an Internal Quality and Evaluation academic and mobility pathways.<\/li><li>Mapped courses in Circular Economy, Renewable Energies and Cultural Heritage.<\/li><li>Organised 36 UNITA Days to promote study opportunities.<\/li><li>Trained 925 teachers in digital and innovative pedagogies through the Teaching and Learning Centres Network.<\/li><li>Shared common quality tools to assess and enhance teaching across diversity as a driver of inclusion and cohesion.<\/p><ul><li>Developed an Intercomprehension Competence Framework and eight training models.<\/li><li>Delivered 44 courses for 143 participants, issuing 335 digital badges.<\/li><li>Published free resources on the UNITA website to strengthen multilingual communication.<\/li><li>Encouraged intercomprehension in everyday work and fostered research with nine publications and one PhD thesis.<\/li><li>Extended learning to society through activities for young pupils.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div transformation in rural and mountain territories.<\/p><ul><li>Created a cartography of 649 research projects and three Research &amp; Innovation Hubs in the alliance\u2019s core thematic areas.<\/li><li>Integrated 157 researchers into the hubs.<\/li><li>Organised 16 seasonal schools with 199 participants.<\/li><li>Supported 47 joint PhD programmes (35 connected to the hubs).<\/li><li>Launched 49 self-funded projects implemented by a total of 120 researchers and 22 international research internships.<\/li><li>Engaged 93 regional stakeholders in collaborative local partners, linking universities to their regions.<\/li><li>Digitalised procedures through initiatives like Erasmus Without Paper, online learning agreements and flexible study students through UNITA student ambassadors promoting European citizenship and identity.<\/li><li>Issued 127 digital badges, awarded master\u2019s and bachelor\u2019s theses prizes, and created a PhD platforms).<\/li><li>Launched a newsletter, a podcast series, and granted 12 patronages to cultural and academic projects.<\/li><li>Published the Manual of Best Practices and organised the UNITA U*Night \u2013 European Researchers\u2019 Night.<\/li><li>Took part in 131 external events across Europe.<\/li><li>Secured \u20ac10.2 million in additional EU funding (204% of the initial budget),
