Since October 1, 2019, the Rector of the University of Turin has been Stefano Geuna, Full Professor of Human Anatomy. He earned his degree in Medicine from the University of Turin in 1990, and in 1995 he specialized in Child Neuropsychiatry at the same institution. He teaches Human Anatomy in the degree programs of the School of Medicine and previously led the Peripheral Nervous System Regeneration Unit at the Cavalieri Ottolenghi Institute of Neuroscience. He has served as Director of the Department of Clinical and Biological Sciences and, during the last term, was a member of the Academic Senate, where he chaired both the Teaching Committee and the Research Committee. Professor Geuna has extensive experience in collegial bodies, beginning in 2001 when he took on his first role as a faculty representative on the Faculty Council of Medicine and Surgery. As a scientist, he has authored over 230 publications, participated in more than 300 national and international conferences, won three research awards, and holds two patents. His ability to combine science, teaching, and social engagement is exemplified by the two postgraduate programs he directs — one on autism and one on schooling in hospitals — both of which bridge professional practice and care strategies.
