ED-UNITA project has been selected for funding under the Erasmus+ European Degree Exploratory Action call, one of the European Commission’s flagship initiatives supporting the implementation of the future European Degree.
Among the proposals submitted across Europe, 14 European University alliances were selected for funding. ED-UNITA is one of them, confirming the Alliance’s leading role in advancing the European Higher Education Area.
The project brings together the universities of the UNITA Alliance, together with UNITA GEIE legal entity and the BAUHAUS Alliance as associated partner.
The project has been awarded almost €1 million and will run over the next three years, providing the Alliance with the resources needed to take concrete steps towards the implementation of the European Degree.

One of the project’s main objectives is the development of two new Joint Degrees, focusing on the strategic areas of Green Energy and Strategic Communication and Business in Romance languages. Alongside these new programmes, ED-UNITA will also transform four existing UNITA double degree programmes into European Degrees, further strengthening academic integration across the Alliance.
By working on common academic frameworks, governance models, quality assurance mechanisms and administrative procedures, ED-UNITA will contribute to making joint European study programmes more accessible, more integrated and more attractive for students across Europe.
The project builds on several years of collaboration within UNITA, during which the Alliance has successfully developed joint educational initiatives, multilingual learning pathways, innovative mobility schemes and shared academic governance. ED-UNITA represents the natural next step in this journey, moving from cooperation towards a truly integrated European educational offer.
Beyond its impact on the partner universities, the project will also contribute to the wider European debate on the future of higher education, providing practical solutions that can support the implementation of the European Degree across the European Universities Initiative.
