
Cristina Prandi
Since October 1, 2025, Cristina Prandi, Full Professor of Organic Chemistry, has served as Rector of the University of Turin. She earned her degree in Biological Sciences from the same institution in 1988 and completed a PhD in Biotechnology in1993.Professor Prandi has extensive experience in academic governance, having held key leadership roles including Chair of the Chemistry Degree Program and Vice-Rector for Research in the Natural and Agricultural Sciences (2019–2024). She also coordinates the Butterfly Area, a strategic initiative focused on technology transfer and collaboration between academia and industry.A distinguished scientist, she is the author of over 140 publications, two books, and several patents. Her research focuses on organic and green chemistry, with applications in sustainable agriculture and biomedicine. Since 2022, she has coordinated Spoke 2 of the NODES project, funded by the PNRR, promoting inclusive and sustainable research. In 2025, she received the Research Award for Methodological Aspects of Organic Chemistry from the Italian Chemical Society.Her vision for the University emphasizes internationalization, sustainability, and inclusivity, with a strong focus on the relationship between the university, its community, and society.
