The course on European citizenship is composed of the following four modules: History, Sustainable Development, Law and Economics.

The objectives of the History module are to understand the historical development of the notion of European citizenship and the political issues linked to it, as well as to get awareness of the impact of this historical development on the debates that have come along the European integration. At the end of the module, the student should be able to identify some historical references often referred to in political debates and discourses.

The Sustainable Development module will give the student the competencies on sustainable development goals through an understanding of major concepts and skills acquisition where the vision of the 2030 Agenda is fully consistent with the objectives of EU.

The Law module aims to inform students about the legal perspective on European citizenship. The module will have two main parts. First, students familiarize themselves with the rules and principles governing EU citizenship and the right to cross-border welfare. And in the second part, they acquire in-depth knowledge of the role of the Court of Justice of the European Union in setting the scope and limits of EU citizenship rules.

And, finally, the Economics module will allow the students to understand which are the economic implications of EU membership, which are their rights, as European citizens, as well as to understand the advantages but also the challenges of a Single European Market and of a single European currency.
