The name UNITA evokes the commitment of six universities (Università degli studi di Torino, Universidad de Zaragoza, Université Savoie-Mont Blanc, Universitatea de Vest din Timişoara, Universidade da Beira Interior y Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour) to a closer integration of their academic activities. The subtitle Universitas Montium, written in Latin, reminds that UNITA universities all speak Romance languages and are engaged to foster linguistic diversity.
One of the guidelines of the project is to strengthen the European identity by understanding both its past and recent developments in such fields as Law, History, Sociology and Political Sciences.
Inside the overall project, the funding of a PhD is planned from November 2020. In order to update the concepts of European citizenship, identity and values, the PhD should focus on the students and rural population understanding of European Citizenship. The territories concerned by the study are those where the universities of the Alliance are located. The PhD could especially address the materials that will be produced in the workshops, the interactive forum, the contests and conferences that are meant to be set up in the course of the project.
