UNITA WEEK at Transilvania University of Brașov

From June 17-21, 2024, Transilvania University of Brașov will host UNITA WEEK, an event convening participants from partner universities within the UNITA – Universitas Montium Alliance.

During the event hosted by Transilvania University, pertinent topics for alliance members will be addressed: the development of the UNITA community, personalized, multilingual, and international study programs for students, the enhancement of the digital campus, the optimization of research infrastructure, the promotion of international mobility for students and faculty, the stimulation of innovation, and the contribution to the development of local and regional communities. Furthermore, the strategic council of the alliance, comprising the rectors of the 12 partner universities, will convene in Brașov to engage in sessions dedicated to consortium management and to visit the university campus.

The UNITA Alliance encompasses 12 comprehensive higher education institutions situated in mountainous or border regions where Romance languages (Romanian, Italian, French, Spanish, and Portuguese) are spoken, involving 250,000 students and 21,000 employees. UNITA is one of 50 alliances selected by the European Commission to develop innovative governance and cooperation models, contributing to the European University concept and enhancing the competitiveness of higher education. The consortium includes: the University of Beira Interior and the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda (Portugal), the University of Zaragoza and the Public University of Navarra (Spain), the University of Turin and the University of Brescia (Italy), the University of Pau and the Adour Region and the University of Savoie Mont Blanc (France), the West University of Timișoara, and Transilvania University of Brașov (Romania). Additionally, two associate partners participate in all activities related to the implementation of the UNITA vision: Haute Ecole Spécialisée de Suisse Occidentale (Switzerland) and Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (Ukraine).

The activities of the UNITA Alliance are funded through the Erasmus+ UNITA Universitas Montium project, running from 2023-2027, with a total budget of 14.4 million euros, of which 1.2 million euros are allocated to Transilvania University.
