The Horizon 2020 project Research for UNITA (Re-UNITA) obtains the very good score of 12.5/15, thus confirming the importance of the UNITA alliance and the potential it has in the fields of Research and Innovation. Unita is a consortium of 6 universities supported by the Erasmus+ program in the framework of the European Universities Initiative. It brings together the Universities of Torino (Unito), Beira Interior (UBI), Zaragoza (Unizar), Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (UPPA), Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) and de Vest din Timișoara (UVT), through their shared values and their common objectives in the fields of research and education.

Thanks to Re-Unita, the partners will have more opportunities to deeply foster science and innovation in the three thematic areas identified by the alliance: cultural heritage, circular economy, and renewable energy. Re-Unita will highly contribute to these objectives, by allowing the Unita partners to strengthen their research capabilities through a set of measures. They will specifically enable the 6 universities to develop a common long-term agenda for research, with means allocated to the sharing of infrastructures and resources and to the development of human capital, through common training programs or the development of joint research structures.

While Unita participates to global change in education at the level of the alliance and of Europe, Re-Unita is specifically dedicated to support its Research and Innovation strategy, developed around the idea of hubs of research in each of the thematic areas. This synergy between education and research is particularly important for the consortium. Indeed, through the transformative approach of tailored curricula for students, Unita aims at making research within reach for any student interested in its endless potentialities. By linking research and education to the Unita territories, thanks to the implication of local actors such as firms or non-profit organizations located in rural areas, Unita provides a global and inclusive approach, improving the quality and the adequation of research to the needs of society as a whole.
