The universities of the European Alliance UNITA - Universitas Montium, and its University associated partners, are deeply dismayed about the war being waged in Ukraine by the Russian power, on the doorstep of the European Union, and its consequences on the population of that country. They are convinced that the constitutive vocation of Universities is to be attentive to the construction and consolidation of peace by peaceful means. They are persuaded that strong and immediate diplomatic action is the only way to put an end to the current conflict, the members of UNITA hereby:

  • - join the appeal made by the Secretary-General of the United Nations on February 26thto President Putin to stop the military operations;
  • - firmly reiterate the importance of peace and dialogue as irreplaceable values for the co-existence between peoples and condemns every act of violence and prevarication of human rights and fundamental freedoms;
  • - express genuine solidarity towards the Ukrainian people and a special fraternity to the academic community in Ukraine;
  • - based on the development of the events, consider the possibility of taking practical measures for the benefit and support of colleagues and students who are victims of the situation.
